Mo Hawk, commonly known as Rap Khalifa, is a versatile award-winning solo artist and member of the legendary hip-hop group Da Fugitivz.
The Gambian breed, born Mohammed Kah, rose to recognition for his solo career after the hit Modou Modou and followed up with Stand Up. Both tracks are widely known amongst the West African community and are still frequently played on radio stations across Africa!
Recognized for his unique and outspoken Wolof and English rap style, he’d successfully set himself apart. He was awarded the Rapper of the Year 1999 at the first-ever awards ceremony in Gambia and the Best Gambian Artist in the UK on December 31st 2014. ‘I do nothing but rap and I live hip-hop!” With his style is specific but distinct, singing both in English and his national language Wolof, Rap Khalifa creates a synergy of West meets Africa.
Channelling more than a decade of experience in the music industry, Mo Hawk is ready to broaden his horizons. The rapper is Africa’s modern-day version of Puff Daddy (Sean Combs), Jay 2 or Nas, as he proved he could both produce and direct when he founded his well-known entertainment brand The Block Entertainment, consisting of a music studio (The Block Entertainment Studio) and a
label.
He later topped it off by opening The Gambia’s fastest-growing TV station (Block TV) in 2017.
Rap Khalifa holds an HND diploma in sound engineering from Birmingham Metropolitan College in the UK as well as a (Hons) degree in sound production from the University of Wolverhampton.
Rap Khalifa sees it as his duty to educate the masses through his work. “Music is not just a tool to entertain but to educate as well”. Rapping about society’s ills and relating to his own experiences, he seeks to make a difference. Rap Khalifa released his second studio album ‘Knowledge together with some of the new talents he mentors and also launched his charity organization
